Six villages in Northern Samar had a special Barangay and SK elections on December 15, 2007. These were conducted in the villages of Imelda, Victory, Geparangan de Tunag, Senonogan de Tubang and Diit de Turag, in Silvino Lubos town, and Barangay Balicuatro in Lavezares town.
The October 29 Barangay and SK elections in those areas were postponed when armed men disrupted the village and SK balloting.
Meanwhile, the special elections held Saturday were generally peaceful, the Comelec deploying soldiers in the pollingvenues and three policemen were deployed in each of the polling precincts.
The board of election tellers proclaimed all winning candidates right after the counting was completed.

Catarman Bridge opens to traffic
The Catarman Bridge opened to traffic after 9 long years of construction marred by man made corruption and natural disasters. And more than P200 million pesos expenditure later, not to mention not meeting its April 2007 expected completion date.
The Catarman Bridge though is still closed to medium to large-sized public utility vehicles, they have to go the long route of the Diversion Road a short portion of which traverses the Catarman's Forsaken Road. All other vehicles from pedicabs to tricycles and private vehicles can now cross the bridge.
The Catarman Bridge connects Catarman town proper to the University town of UEP, and the eastern part of the province of Northern Samar.
